Hever: Initial ideas

This weeks lesson aims are:
To review the work completed so far
To discuss and record individual ideas in page layout drawings over two A3 pages that explore your ideas and respond to the brief.

Starter: 10mins
We will recap the brief and make sure it is placed into sketchbooks, updating old briefs.


Responding to the brief: the criteria

P2 use graphic media, techniques and technology to meet a design brief

Responding to the brief: the brief

The shop and information Centre has commissioned you to create a stylish graphic photography book, inspired by the castle, its surroundings, events and family friendly atmosphere. You will produce your graphic photography book using a range of traditional and contemporary media, techniques and technology and design it with an exciting yet harmonious style and layout.

Main Task: 40mins
Using inspiration from your own designs and the review you MUST have done for this lesson complete a range of exciting layout ideas over a DOUBLE A3 page in your sketchbooks.  These ideas must combine images and text together to present the following information, taken from the Hever Castle website.

You will need: 8 interior pages and a cover / back cover:

INTERIOR PAGES: Please follow the PAGE TITLE and BODY TEXT attached for the text/words needed for your pages.

Page: 1 and 2 HISTORY
  • Experience 700 years of history at the romantic double-moated castle once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn. The splendid rooms contain fine furniture, tapestries, antiques, an important collection of Tudor paintings and two prayer books inscribed and signed by Anne Boleyn herself
Page: 3 and 4 GARDENS
  • Discover magnificent award-winning gardens set in 125 acres of glorious grounds. No matter what time of year you visit you are guaranteed a breath-taking display.
Page: 5 and 6 FAMILIES
  • Children can let off steam in the adventure playground, while visitors of all ages enjoy the challenge of finding their way through the Water Maze and the 100 year old Yew Maze. There’s a fascinating collection of Miniature Model Houses, a boating Lake and a warm welcome awaits you in the shops and restaurants.
Page: 7 and 8 EVENTS
  • You can witness spectacular jousting in an authentic arena, complete with Royal Box. Come and have a go at the ancient sport of archery, enjoy a garden tours with a member of the Hever Castle gardening team and paint your very own shield to take home as a memento of your day out.
Plenary: 10mins
Discuss the brief, your understanding of the brief, are you: 

GREEN: fully understanding the brief and what is required as an outcome.
ORANGE: not understanding one of either the brief OR what is required as an outcome. 
RED: understanding NONE of the brief OR what is required as an outcome.

YOUR BOOKS WILL BE COLLECTED TOMORROW AND PLACED IN THE RESOURCE AREA ON FRIDAY FOR COLLECTION
